In keeping with tradition, I created this werewolf pumkin carving for Halloween 2008! Below are a few images describing the steps I took to cut out the pattern, trace it to the pumkin, and then carve the design. Click the image to the right to redirect to the DeviantArt page.

Here's How I did it:

Step 1: Unlike 2005, this time around I just decided to select this great pre-designed werewolf pumpkin pattern.

Step 2: After carefully cutting out the pattern with a razor blade, I used a damp cloth to gently press it to the pumpkin's surface to make it conform to the bumps and lines better. Remember, don't rub (or the paper will come apart). Just dab softly!

Step 3: After the paper was dry, I used the cheapest paint I could find to go over all the lines to give me a better cutting reference.

Step 4: After a lot of patience and careful cutting with the jack 'o lantern knives I had, the design looked like this:

Step 5: Insert the candle, put it in a dark room (or out on the front porch--just be careful of pumkin smashers, if you know what I mean), then take a picture (without the flash!). You'll want to use a tripod or something to keep the camera perfectly still so the image isn't blurry. This pic is actually a bad example (I don't know what the camera's issue was, but it's pretty low-quality).
